The Edward Malley Company's newly-built store opened in October 1962 and closed in February 1982. The structure sat vacant for much of the 1980s and '90s. It was occupied, for a time, by the Caesar's Bazaar indoor flea market.

The posh Sheraton Park Plaza opened in September 1966. It towered 19 floors above Temple Street, which ran along the west side of CHAPEL SQUARE. The hotel was equipped with 310 guest rooms and featured the Cafe Napoleon bistro, Coffee House cafe and Top of the Park cocktail lounge.
