Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. This site includes historical sections about regional department stores, discount stores, 5 & 10 stores and supermarkets. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!
The second theatrical venue to operate at the mall was installed in a parking area Convenience Center. The venue, which opened in late 1987, operated under the Roth and Loews banners before its stint as the P & G Theatres Wheaton Plaza 11 seen here. It was rebuilt into a short-lived Cinema & Drafthouse, which morphed into the 6-screen Montgomery Royal Theatre in 2010. This operation was shuttered in late 2013.

A major renovation was given to the cinema structure. It re-opened, as the AMC Wheaton Mall 9, in October 2016. A Bar Louie was installed as part of the refurbishment.
