Six suburban shopping malls were built in Greater Sacramento during the mid-20th century. These are indicated with black squares on the map below.

A seventh mall-type center, DOWNTOWN PLAZA, was a center city urban renewal project, which opened in 1971. It is indicated by a gray square. The eighth major mall in the Capital region, WESTFIELD GALLERIA AT ROSEVILLE (nee' GALLERIA AT ROSEVILLE) opened in the year 2000.
