Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. This site includes historical sections about regional department stores, discount stores, 5 & 10 stores and supermarkets. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!
The first of my October 2007 CANTON CENTRE pics. Here we see the Northeast Entrance, created in the 2005 demalling. At one time, the mall corridor extended past this point into an East Wing and Montgomery Ward. These were demolished, with the aforementioned Wal-Mart SuperCenter taking their place.
This photo -and the five that follow- were taken inside CANTON CENTRE (nee' MELLETT MALL) by yours truly. Here we see the vacant Picnic Place Food Court, which had been installed in 1988. Most of its area had originally been an A & P supermarket.
