Three Seattle-centric department stores anchored the original shopping hub. The Bon Marche, encompassing 265,000 square feet, is seen in this rendering. The store featured three restaurants; The Cascade Room, Men's Grill cocktail lounge and Corner House coffee shop.

Nordstrom Best was an amalgamation of Nordstrom's Shoes and Best's Apparel, who merged in 1963. The Nordstrom Best brand debuted in 1966 and 1967. Stores would be rebannered as simply Nordstrom in 1972.

Frederick & Nelson, the large white building in the center, of this image anchored the Southwest Wing. The store's primary feature was its Garden Room restaurant. SOUTHCENTER was the first Greater Seattle shopping complex to include both of the Jet City's premier department stores; Frederick & Nelson and the aforementioned Bon Marche.
