A 142 million dollar rebuild of BELLEVUE SQUARE got underway in the late '70s. The seven city blocks of the old shopping hub were merged into one. A 2-level, fully-enclosed mall was built. Its first phase (in black and dark gray) incorporated existing Frederick & Nelson and Nordstrom Best structures. A second mall phase (medium gray) brought three new anchor stores. The shiny new BELLEVUE SQUARE mall, completed in August 1984, spanned over one million leasable square feet, with a roster of 145 stores and services.
