A circa-'60 plan shows the original two-phase section in black. It included the mall's Macy's. The third phase appears in dark gray. Designed by John Savage Bolles, it added retailers such as F.W. Woolworth and Drug King. In this original state, BAY FAIR CENTER covered approximately 600,000 leasable square feet. Free parking was provided for 4,000 autos.
