MALL HALL OF FAME

Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. This site includes historical sections about regional department stores, discount stores, 5 & 10 stores and supermarkets. The mall's first motion picture venue was built, as a freestanding structure, in the northeast parking area. The Eastland Theatre, seen here, opened in September 1969.

The second theatrical venue was installed in the East Wing of the mall. Known as the Eastland Mall Theatres 3-7, it debuted in December 1985.
