The mall opened for business in July 1965. It was Greater Detroit's fourth fully-enclosed shopping center. In its original state, WESTLAND CENTER covered approximately 664,000 leasable square feet and housed forty-four stores under its roof. Free parking was provided for 4,500 autos.
