In 2017, REGENCY SQUARE has been in business for 50 years. A slow decline had started in the early 2000s, when the mall became notorious for criminal activity. Anchor stores began to pull up stakes in 2015. By this time, the West Wing was virtually vacant. A plan to retenant it was set in motion in 2016.  

The International Decor Outlet opened in April 2017. Although up to eighty vendors were originally proposed for this mall within a mall, only six would ever open for business. By October 2017, the IDO -as well as its adjacent Asian Town and Automobile & Motorcycle Museum- had closed.

Dillard's -which became a Clearance Center in 2008- anchored the northwest corner of the complex for 33 years. The mall closed for good in mid-2025 and is being redeveloped as THE NEXUS AT REGENCY, a "dynamic mixed-use community."
