After an 8-year delay, an expansion and refurbishment of WALT WHITMAN MALL...make that WALT WHITMAN SHOPS...got underway in early 2012. It included construction of the Main Entrance Streetscape shown here and added 102,000 leasable square feet to the mall's gross leasable area.

A circa-2014 plan of WALT WHITMAN SHOPS shows the aforementioned Streetscape in medium gray. Retail area in the existing part of the center has also been reconfigured to accommodate new stores and restaurants. The mall proper now encompasses around 1,089,400 leasable square feet, with over eighty stores and services in the directory.
