By the dawn of the 21st century, WHITTWOOD MALL had been bested by newer and more trendy shopping hubs in its trade area. Its lack of freeway access had also contributed to its decline. A stylish new logo could not hide the fact that the mall had seen better days.

A snapshot of the main corridor at WHITTWOOD MALL. This was taken in December 2003...the last yuletide season the shopping center would see. A wrecking ball would be brought in in July 2004.

In a circa-2007 physical layout, we see the orientation of the shiny new WHITTWOOD TOWN CENTER. Structures shown in black had been left standing when the mall was knocked down. Those indicated in gray were built between 2005 and 2007. 

We now present three contemporary views of WHITTWOOD TOWN CENTER. J.C. Penney, at today's power plaza, is a circa-1973 holdover from the original enclosed mall.

Target inaugurated a newly-built store in 2005.

24 Hour Fitness also opened for business in 2005. It occupies space where the original Whittwood Theatre once stood.
