Aberdeen's Super City Center


South Dakota's Hub City played host to the state's first mall-type shopping complex. Charter stores in Aberdeen's SUPER CITY CENTER opened for business between April 1964 and April 1965.

A Tempo Discount Center was the first operational SUPER CITY tenant. This self-service family department store encompassed 40,000 square feet and included a 2-bay Drive-In Service auto center.

Our first SUPER CITY site plan dates to 1965. In its original state, the community-class mall covered approximately 116,500 leasable square feet and housed over twenty stores under its roof. Free parking was provided for 1,000 autos.
