The nation's second shopping mall multiplex -and the first to connect directly into an enclosed shopping concourse- opened in July 1963. This venue was added to Kansas City, Missouri's WARD PARKWAY CENTER.

On the opening night bill was the Mirisch Company's "The Great Escape," which starred Steve McQueen, James Garner and Charles Bronson. By the way, both the Parkway One and Parkway Two auditoriums were playing the same feature film.
