King County / Bellevue, Washington's Bel-Vue Theatre may now be given the distinction of being America's first Post-World War II Shopping Center Cinema. The venue, which was built as part of the BELLEVUE SHOPPING SQUARE development, held its gala grand opening in early 1946. It was followed by the Holiday Theatre -at ChiTown's PARK FOREST PLAZA- in late 1950 and the Ridgeway Theatre -at Connecticut's RIDGEWAY CENTER- which opened in the summer of 1951.
