RCA's major television manufacturing rival, Zenith, was shown up by RCA's development and introduction of the first color sets. Zenith countered by ushering in the first wireless remote control televisions in 1955. Known as "Flash-matic," they worked (well, sort of) using a beam of light. A more advanced -ultrasonic- remote control, known as "Space Command," is the latest thing in 1956.
