The HEART OF HUNTSVILLE star had fallen by the late 1980s, when the complex had been bested by newer and larger shopping hubs in its trade area. The mall was unceremoniously knocked down in 2007, with a "new & improved" mixed-use complex -known as CONSTELLATION- being proposed.

Over the years, plans would be drawn up and then scrapped. At least two "Constellation" logos would also be created. Above, we see the final plan for the facility. It will join the Springhill Suites Hotel, which opened, as a first phase of the project, in late 2011. Construction on the second Constellation stage commenced in October 2019.
