The Southwest Side shopping hub is depicted in a mid-'60s site plan. In 1966, FORD CITY CENTER spanned approximately 1 million leasable square feet and was promoted as the largest mall in Chicagoland. Its expansive parking area had accommodations for 8,000 autos.
