Ground was broken for Chicagoland's massive WOODFIELD project in October 1969. The snapshot above shows the mall under construction. "Woodfield" was an amalgamation of the names of a person and company involved in its development; Robert E. Wood (Chairman of Sears & Roebuck), and Marshall Field & Company. They must have been unable to work "A. Alfred" or "Taubman" into it...
