Moving to the next aisle, in a cabinet along one side of the store (with holes for your hands in the plastic doors), is a selection of Stereo 8-track tapes. This format, first marketed in 1965, has become the preeminent perveyor of recorded music, tape-wise. It has eclipsed the "StereoPAK" 4-track format (which will be phased out this year). Oh yes, tapes always cost a dollar more than record albums. Farther down, we have some of the brand new "Quad 8" tapes.
