By the 1980s, the complex is being promoted as MEMORIAL CITY MALL. This circa-1989 layout shows the Fame City Family Fun Center that has just been installed in a vacant Frost Brothers (nee' Battelstein's) store. An 8-plex cinema (the mall's second movie house) has also opened in the South Wing.

Lord & Taylor pulled out of MEMORIAL CITY MALL in February 1989. The vacant store was reoccupied by Mervyn's, who began business in August of the same year.

Lord & Taylor returned to the shopping complex -in a brand-new store- in March 2002. It was built over a section of the old Battelstein's / Fame City space. Suprisingly, this new L & T location would be shuttered in only 3 years.
