Joske's built a freestanding store in the vicinity of the future GALLERIA mall. Joske's-Post Oak, which opened in August 1963, became a "shadow anchor" of the shopping complex.

This 4-level Neiman Marcus became the first operational GALLERIA POST OAK store, in January 1969.

A fully-enclosed mall, added to the existing Neiman-Marcus, was dedicated in November 1970. GALLERIA POST OAK encompassed approximately 600,000 leasable square feet, with an initial sixty stores and services.
