A second phase expansion, done between 1980 and 1983, added a new East Mall (in medium gray). This was anchored by Jordan Marsh, Lord & Taylor and J.C. Penney. Richards was shuttered in January 1980, with Miami-based Burdines assuming the space. With these improvements, the complex and strip center covered around 1.5 million leasable square feet and housed 207 stores. For a brief period, it was Metro-Dade's largest shopping mall.
