A circa-1973 physical layout of NORTHWOODS MALL. Comprising 684,000 leasable square feet, the center was -and still is- the largest shopping option to ever play in Peoria. The 25 million dollar NORTHWOODS was anchored by Carson, Pirie Scott (a.k.a. Carson's) and Montgomery Ward, with J.C. Penney joining the tenant list in early 1974. The mall's parking area could accommodate 3,700 autos.
