The SOUTHLAND Macy's was built as a Honolulu-based Liberty House in the early 1970s. The store morphed into a Bay Area-based Emporium-Capwell in 1983 and an Emporium in 1990. The store was affixed with the Macy's masthead seen above in 1996.

Hayward, California's hometown department store operated a SOUTHLAND branch between January 1995 and December 2008. The store re-opened, as a Kohl's, in late 2009.

In a circa-2009 physical layout, we see the mall's new Kohl's and the space just vacated by Steve & Barry's University Sportswear. Some of the newer inline stores include Ross Dress For Less, Foot Locker, Forever 21 and Champs Sports.
