From A & P all the way over to Kroger! In its original incarnation, the OAK RIDGE BUSINESS DISTRICT covered approximately 260,000 leasable square feet and housed forty-seven stores and services beneath its awnings. There was free parking for 2,000 autos.

The first expansion of the shopping venue added a Loveman's of Tennessee department store. It opened in August 1959.

A second expansion brought a West Wing of stores and made the shopping center into a U-shaped facility. The Fowler's furniture store seen here was dedicated in November 1961.

The Knox built a DOWNTOWN SHOPPING CENTER location, which opened for business in July 1971. The store was acquired by the Proffitt's chain, who rebranded it in September 1974.
