Traveling forward in time 20 years, we see a train set on "Bawlmer's" Metro subway. The heavy rail transit line began revenue service in late 1983 and included a station adjacent to MONDAWMIN MALL.

James Rouse and company completed a renovation of the property in 1982. The interior was given a face lift and a parking garage was added to the west side. The Sears structure, vacant for 9 years, was sectioned into inline stores (in dark gray). This new mall within a mall was dubbed Metro Plaza.
