Traveling forward in time 20 years, we see a train set on "Bawlmer's" Metro subway. The heavy rail transit line began revenue service in late 1983 and included a station adjacent to MONDAWMIN MALL.
A site plan dated late 1983. The shopping hub, known as MONDAWMIN METRO PLAZA for some time, was purchased by the Rouse Company, its original developer. They performed a renovation, converting the basement into additional retail space and adding a parking garage. Sears, abandoned for 9 years, was sectioned into inline stores (shown in dark gray).
A view of the mall's Center Court, fountain and circular staircase.
