FLORIN MALL was given a wrecking ball renovation in mid-2006, leaving only Sears standing. The moribund mall was replaced with FLORIN TOWNE CENTRE, a 112 million redevelopment. Stores in the open-air power plaza began opening in March 2008.

Sacramento's first Wal-Mart SuperCenter was built as part of FLORIN TOWNE CENTRE. The store encompassed 218,500 leasable square feet. It opened its doors in June 2009.
