The region's first motor expressway, originally known as the Elvas Freeway (now called The Capital City Freeway / Business Route I-80) opened in 1955. By the 1980s, the region's presently-existing expressway network was in place. This was joined, in March 1987, by an 18.3 route mile light rail line, the RT. This was extended between 1995 and 2006 and now stretches for 38.6 route miles, with forty-eight station stops.
