Sac-Town-based Weinstock's anchored the north end of SUNRISE MALL with a "cubistic" store. It became the mall's first operational tenant in February 1972.

Honolulu-based Liberty House anchored the southeast corner of the original mall. This store was dedicated in October 1972.
