The 5 million dollar PLAZA was a two-anchor shopping center; built in a day when just one was the norm. In late 1955, the shopping hub covered approximately 320,000 leasable square feet and contained thirty-eight stores and services within its canopies. The parking area had accommodations for 2,700 autos.

By 1979, three stores in WESTERN HILLS PLAZA had been enlarged (in dark gray). Moreover, Mabley & Carew was sporting a new nameplate, that of Dayton's Elder-Beerman chain. A new section of inline stores has also been attached to the west end of the complex (in medium gray).

Between 2004 and 2009, the PLAZA was given a thorough overhaul by it's Oz-based owner. Vacant Media Play and Kroger stores were surgically extracted and a new Target joined the fold. The complex, now tenanted by several big box-type stores, encompassed approximately 322,000 leasable square feet.
