New York City's Green Acres Center


Long Island's second shopping mall was built in Nassau County's Town of Hempstead, on a site adjacent to the Village of Valley Stream. The first operational stores in the retail facility were dedicated in October 1956.

The New York City-based arm of Gimbels built their second branch store at GREEN ACRES CENTER. Gimbels Valley Stream encompassed 218,700 square feet and contained 124 selling departments.
