Los Angeles' first suburban shopping center. The site plan here
depicts what had been completed by 1948 (in black). A north-
west block of stores (in gray) came inline soon after.
One of many classic mall and retro retail internet sites, the MALL HALL OF FAME is a "Mid-mod" mall museum, covering shopping centers of America's mid-20th century (1950-1979). There are short articles, a few photos, and at least one physical layout drawing for every mall inducted. Please feel free to post any additional info you may be aware of. Thanks much.

Times and malls certainly have changed (so did the neighborhood as well).
The Broadway became Bloomingdales for a while after The Broadway (loved that 1920s-40s font.similiar to the Hollywood/Vine "Broadway Hollywood" store) chain ended.Their May Company was very similiar to the world-famous Wishire-Fairfax one (1940).
I dunno....
Info I found (from January 1996) sez that the Broadway at BALDWIN HILLS was to be rebranded as a Macy's in 1996. Apparently, this particular store closed in 1999 and became a Wal-Mart in 2003.
According to other accounts, the second Macy's at BALDWIN HILLS-CRENSHAW PLAZA opened in late '06, in the old May Company Crenshaw/Robinsons-May store.
Info I found, pertaining to SHERMAN OAKS FASHION SQUARE, sez that the Bloomingdale's there (taking the old Broadway store...the western anchor) was LA County's first Bloomingdale's (opening in '96).
I guess that the CENTURY CITY Bloomingdale's (in the old The Broadway there) might have opened a tiny bit later?
Is this info incorrect?
