The first phase of CROSS COUNTY CENTER came inline in April 1954,
with thirty-five stores and services.

By the late '50s, two anchor department stores had been completed and

the full compliment of over forty stores and services was in business.

Three additional retail blocks (indicated in gray) were added in 1957-

1958. The complex was also adjacent to the final construction segment

of the New York State Thruway. It had opened to traffic September 1,

1956.
